Sweet Land
(2006)

A paean to a lost way of life, farming. (At least lost for the great majority of us.) A beautiful film about tenacity, prejudice and love. The beautiful Elizabeth Reaser plays a German mail order bride shunned by the Norwegian Minnesota community she washes up in. Great humor at the prejudices against Germans in post WWI America (U.S.) The time sequence is a bit disjointed as it flashes back twice, but the relationships come across as authentic and complex. This is a real treat.
